Job Summary: Product Marketing Director is responsible for raising awareness and building excitement for both internal and external customers about updates to Wilson programs as a key part of the go-to-market process. This position is responsible for presenting Wilson programs in ways that will strengthen the brand, increase adoption, and ensure the implementation of programs with fidelity to optimize student success. The Product Marketing Director will collaborate closely with Program Development, Digital Product, Marketing (Creative and Brand), Customer Success, Sales, and other groups to educate, partner, and develop key messaging, positioning, and differentiators related to product updates via artifacts like Key Messaging Documents or other collateral and tools. The Product Marketing Director will help guide the development of marketing collateral and sales tools including one-pagers, samples, demos, walkthroughs, videos, FAQs, white papers, micro sites, or other resources. The Product Marketing Director will also collaborate regularly and closely with Marketing (Creative and Brand) to help inform marketing campaigns and contribute to the broader marketing effort across channels and to increase leads and conversions. This position will manage feedback loops and deliver Product Roadshows for both internal and external customers, as well as Customer Summits intended to capture the voice of the customer on strategic priorities. The Product Marketing Director and the product marketing group will serve as the gateway for program queries from other functional areas in the organization and manage responses. The Product Marketing Director will also play a leading role in coordinating Wilson’s approach to in-person and virtual events (conferences, summits, symposia) as well as maintaining the presentations and collateral developed to support these efforts.

The ideal candidate will be creative, a quantitative thinker, and have deep experience with product marketing tools, approaches, and techniques in the education or learning markets. A strong knowledge of Wilson programs and the foundational skills segment of the K-12 English Language Arts market is a plus but not necessary.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Study and understand company programs and updates.
  • Translate product and feature details into benefits for the user that form the basis of key messaging, positioning, and market differentiators.
  • Work closely with the other product groups (Program Development, Digital Product, Professional Learning) to understand the end-to-end customer experience with existing programs as well as future updates or enhancements.
  • Manage, coordinate, and deliver strategic events for internal and external customers.
  • Maintaining a knowledge of both Wilson programs and the market, including which competitors are winning/losing, and how their messaging compares.
  • Create and maintain a calendar of events that aligns program updates and messaging for internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team (creative and brand) on the development of marketing strategies as well as the creation of content across marketing channels.
  • Work closely with customer-facing groups (Literacy Advisors, Literacy Specialists, Dyslexia Specialists) to visit key customers and support Wilson implementations.
  • Coordinate customer feedback before, during and after the development of program updates to test messaging, positioning, differentiation, and storytelling.
  • Follow and analyze market trends to position products.
  • Understand and display WLT’s values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Skills:

  • Over 5 years of experience as a Product Marketing Manager, Brand Manager, or similar role.
  • Experience with an organization and/or a product that has seen significant growth.
  • Experience in the education industry a plus but not necessary.
  • Product marketing expertise and familiarity with product marketing tools and tactics (e.g., integrated marketing campaigns).
  • Excellent communication, organization/prioritization, and analytical skills.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Creativity
  • Background in design and copywriting is a plus.

Education or Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field.
  • Certified Product Manager (CPMM) designation a plus.
  • A designation from the Association of International Product Marketing and Management (AIPMM) a plus.

Wilson has identified the anticipated pay range for this role based on the many factors that we consider in defining compensation levels for our roles, including market data, and internal equity considerations. Actual pay, and allocation between base and any target discretionary bonus, will vary based on geographic location, education, work experience, skills, market data, and internal equity considerations. Anticipated salary: $150,000 - $165,000.
