Who We are Looking For

We seek a dynamic and entrepreneurial Accounting Professional to grow with us. We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to handle general accounting operations by managing and verifying our financial transactions. Our environment is fast-paced and offers ample opportunity to grow and develop. This position requires an individual with a high level of initiative who will frequently exercise discretion and independent judgement.

We need a professional with proven skills in implementing GAAP and end-to-end transactional accounting.

The person hired will report to the company’s Director of Finance, supporting the Partner Services finance team in meeting organization-wide objectives and interacting with the Company’s Partners in helping to support their day-to-day accounting functions. You will enjoy a broad range of responsibilities and get to know the business and operations.

Essential Responsibilities

Manage the monthly close process and drive material efficiencies in the closing process

Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial transactions in accordance with GAAP.

Responsible for general ledger maintenance, monthly close, reconciliations, variance analysis and cash forecasts.

Communicate regularly with the senior management team in regularly scheduled meeting settings about financial performance, business opportunities and challenges

Retain and develop team members, including coordinating with third-party accounting support

Assist with consolidated annual audit as needed.

Maintain and improve business systems, processes, and controls, understanding the key financial drivers of the business to manage to those numbers with intensity, including identification of EBITDA addbacks

Post and process journal entries, record, and document financial transactions, and identify and resolve any financial data discrepancies.

Assist with cross-functional areas of the business as needed.

Be a utility player, supporting Partners with their accounting operations as needed.

Education & Skills:

Required

  • BS Degree in Finance, Accounting, or business
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accounting setting with at least 3 years in a privately held company, including “hands-on” work within the accounting functions.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in using Accounting and CRM Systems. We are currently using Sage Intacct.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Creative strategic thinker, who can apply out of the box thinking to problem-solving and big picture concepts.
  • Must be a self-starter, and able to work independently and be a Team Player to meet deadlines in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Highly Organized with attention to detail
  • Strategic thinker who isn’t afraid to be a working manager
  • Strict Confidentiality and Professional Maturity

Preferred but not Required

  • CPA Certification or working towards your certification is a plus.
  • Experience in a PE-backed company a plus.
  • Experience in an industry that experiences seasonal demand and expense timing within a fiscal year is a plus.
  • Public accounting experience a plus.

Compensation:

Vertex intends to offer the selected candidate a competitive base salary plus the potential of annual bonus. The actual offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience.
