Position Overview:

Join Vertex Service Partners as the Director of Employee Resources! We are seeking an enthusiastic leader to oversee performance enhancement, employee engagement, employee relations and support people operation tasks. The ideal candidate is an HR generalist/business partner with a focus on meeting business goals while providing excellent support to our employees. This leader must be able to support the design of new programs while also nailing tactical responsibilities. We are a fast paced, fun team! Must be able to build strong relationships, communicate effectively, provide internal consulting services and roll up your sleeves!

Key Responsibilities:

Performance Enhancement

  • Develop initiatives to enhance employee performance aligning with organizational goals.
  • Recommend and coordinate performance appraisal cycles and metrics.
  • Train managers in setting goals practices and conducting reviews
  • Support managers in creating improvement plans and advise on timelines and potential separations.
  • Drive employee development and recognition programs.
  • Provide consulting to leaders on organizational design, employee resourcing and compensation strategy to meet company performance goals.

Engagement and Retention

  • Implement and conduct employee surveys.
  • Analyze engagement and retention data and report to leaders with recommendations.
  • Support leaders in creating and implementing engagement action plans.
  • Provide consulting to leaders on strategies to enhance employee engagement and retention.

Employee Relations

  • Address employee concerns and workplace conflicts, ensuring fair resolutions.
  • Conduct investigations and recommend actions.
  • Maintain confidential records of employee relations issues.
  • Develop and update employee handbooks.
  • Partner with legal on matters needing elevated escalation.

People Operations Support

  • Address employee inquiries regarding benefits and pay.
  • Assist with benefits enrollment, changes, and troubleshooting benefit and pay issues.
  • In partnership with the Total Rewards and People Operations COE, communicate information regarding benefits plans and HR system/process updates.
  • Coordinate and support the onboarding and termination process for new hires and departing employees.
  • Conduct background checks and onboarding sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR)
  • 10+ years in of HR generalist experience covering the various areas in the job description
  • In-depth understanding of employment laws
  • Exceptional communication ability and relationship building skills

Location: Charlotte, NC – Hybrid

Travel: Up to 33%

Direct Reports: This role will begin as an individual contributor working with an outsourced HR team and will build a small internal team thereafter.
