JOB DESCRIPTION:

As the HVAC Vertical Finance Manager, you will be a critical manager responsible for supporting the creation of scalable, best-in-class finance & accounting departments and processes at each of our newly acquired HVAC operating companies (“OpCos”). You will help build and oversee the day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring that there are robust financial processes in place at each newly acquired OpCo that are completed in a timely and correct manner. Moreover, this role will require you to be an effective trainer and evaluator of talent. With your expertise, you will help shape the decision-making process regarding how we structure the finance & accounting departments at each of our newly acquired OpCos. With that in mind, this is an opportunity for someone who can marry strong finance & accounting skills, business acumen, and strategic thinking to take on a management role at a high-growth organization, backed by a well-known financial sponsor in Alpine Investors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

Reporting to the Orion Group Corporate Controller and HVAC Vertical VP, you will play a key role in establishing and executing financial and accounting operations. This will include, but is not limited to:

  • Partnering with and training newly acquired OpCo teams to ensure the books, monthly reporting packages, and management commentary sections are properly prepared each month
  • Assisting with the month end close by helping to review various work papers prepared by the OpCos supporting balances that are reported on the balance sheet for accuracy and completeness as well as compliance with US GAAP
  • Supporting the completion of other core financial processes at newly acquired OpCos including annual budgets
  • Supporting Orion HoldCo efforts to implement a new COA and ERP system in order to streamline reporting processes
  • Providing Orion leader with information and insights vital to the decision-making process related to organizational structures
  • Interfacing directly with OpCo financial teams and building relationships with key personnel
  • Maintaining constant lines of communication with OpCo teams to understand their needs and/or concerns
  • Assisting with various financial audits (year-end FS audit and Opening balance sheet audits), by helping to review various work papers prepared by the OpCos for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with US GAAP
  • Coordinating with the auditors on timing as well as working closely with OpCo leadership in responding to open item requests
  • Assisting with requests made to OpCos from Orion for financial information and detail
  • Assist with month end close for the HVAC Holding company.

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 5+ years in Accounting or Finance roles
  • CPA (nice to have)
  • Excellent knowledge of US GAAP
  • Knowledge of ASC 606, 842 and 805 accounting principles
  • Knowledge of Cost Accounting
  • Proven experience and expertise working within ERP systems
  • Proven experience working cross-functionally to complete projects and/or other initiatives
  • Proven experience and knowledge with financial planning, reporting, and variance analysis
  • Proven ability to communicate accounting and financial information into common language
