Position Summary

The HR Manager at Briefly plays a pivotal role in overseeing various initiatives within the Human Resources department and the larger firm to ensure its efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards. This position requires a strong blend of cross-functional work, organizational acumen, and HR expertise.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • HR Operations: The HR Manager will be responsible for managing the strategic administration and daily operations of the Human Resources function which involves close liaison with the payroll, finance, IT, and operations teams and solving complex operational and HR issues with little to no oversight.

  • Benefits: Manage LOAs, COBRA administration, 401(k) administration, and open enrollment. Responsible for troubleshooting complex benefits issues that arise.

  • Learning & Development: Own the learning & development function building out training offerings, managing CLEs, and owning vendor relationships. Utilize performance management data to implement department specific trainings. Facilitate employee engagement initiatives. Work cross-functionally to update new hire and compliance trainings. Respond to industry survey requests.

  • Recruiting & Onboarding: Oversee staff recruitment activities, including establishing recruitment procedures, creating and posting job descriptions, implementing sourcing and interview guidelines to attract and retain top talent, and performing compensation analysis. Manage the onboarding of new hires including updating materials, streamlining the process, and facilitating orientation.

  • Compliance: Regularly audit HR practices, policies, and processes to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations. Identify potential areas of risk related to labor compliance and work with the Sr. Director of HR to develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Provide support on the annual 401(k) audit, Form 5500 filing, and 1095-C distributions.

  • Performance Management & Compensation: Provide support to the Sr. Director of HR in building out and implementing the performance management process including annual goal setting, mid-year reviews, and annual reviews. Support the compensation, merit, and promotion process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or related field.

  • SHRM-CP Certification Preferred.

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of human resources experience, with a minimum of 2-3 years in a manager level HR role with direct reports.

  • Experience working in a professional service organization, preferred.

  • Solution oriented and resourceful in a lean environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Track record of success managing and prioritizing multiple projects with minimal direction.

  • Self-starter with excellent time-management and communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to learn and use new applications.

Briefly Legal anticipates the base salary for the Human Resource Manager role to range from $125,000 to $145,000 and will depend on current market data and the candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. The compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described based on several factors.
